MISSIONS AND PRESIDIOS OF TEXAS (Under spain)

MISSIONS were built by Spain to establish control of what is now Texas and to spread Catholicism to the native population.

(GOD, Gold, Glory) PRESIDIOS were built by Spain to protect the Missions. People living in the Missions were religious officials such as fathers, monks. Native Texans also lived in the

After the failure of the mission, Frances St. Denis expressed interest in trading with the natives of Texas, as a result, Spain began building new missions in Texas.

Built by Spain to be a half-way point between New Spain (what is now Mexico) and the missions of East Texas.

PLYMOUTH 1620 Plymouth, Massachussets was

established by the Pilgrims who were seeking religious freedom in the New World. (GOD)
