Welcome Back to School 2018-2019 Mrs. Agresta Welcome

Welcome Back to School 2018-2019 Mrs. Agresta Welcome to 1st Grade I am looking forward to a fun-filled and exciting school year working you and your child! My goal is to make your child's learning experience a truly positive one! If you have any questions throughout the year

you can contact me. Contact Info [email protected] OR write me a note Remind App Enter this number 81010 Text this Message @magrest Meet the Teacher I am Marteen Agresta. I have

lived in Little Ferry my entire life and have been teaching here since 2006. I was the Gifted and Talented teacher before coming to First Grade. I am a graduate of Montclair State University, where I received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education. Educational Philosophy

I believe that children should be in a safe, healthy, nurturing and stimulating environment. I understand that all children have the ability and capacity to learn, but not all children learn at the same pace or in the same way. Therefore, I build lessons to incorporate many different learning styles to accommodate students' needs. This includes hands-on activities that support 'fun' and meaningful learning within the classroom. In addition, to the academic goals set by the curriculum, I hope to develop thinking skills, communication skills, self-confidence and a love for learning in all my students. I believe that teachers and parents should work TOGETHER to educate your/our children. Behavior Management

Behavior Clip Chart Student Expectations: Follow the rules of the class Be responsible and independent Try their best Be kind and respectful Rewards: Verbal praise Stickers Prize Box $5 towards Scholastic Books

Consequences: Time out of Recess Call to parent Talk with Principal Homework HOMEWORK stamp or an "HW" printed on top. Homework will be corrected together or handed in each morning. It will be sent home for your knowledge of how

they did, but will not be factored into your child's report card grade like a test or quiz. Your child's homework grade is simply based on whether it was completed with care and returned to school the following day. I encourage parents to sit with their child when they do their homework and provide assistance only when needed. Homework reinforces the skills that we are learning in the classroom that week and skills previously learned. Reading Homework Part of the first grade curriculum is to read at

least 5 days out of the week. This could be reading silently to themselves, to a parent, sibling, with a friend, or being read to. Picking A Just Right Book Raz-Kids Raz-Kids is an online reading program that students have the opportunity to use at home. Login information went home in their summer homework packets.
